Team Award as result of FOTF funded equipment

A few months ago, we entered the Friarage cardiology team to the annual Heart Rhythm Congress/Arrhythmia Alliance team of the year competition.  Last year this was won by the team from Barts in London which has one of the most high profile cardiology departments within Europe, to put things into perspective.

I am pleased to say that we won and were awarded the “Team of the Year” award for service developments within cardiac rhythm management that we have undertaken at the Friarage over the last 5 years.

This is a tremendous accolade for all of you and collectively I hope you feel proud to have won.  It is national recognition for the work you all do day in day out.

The Heart Rhythm Congress runs annually in Birmingham over 4 days and “Heart Rhythm Congress (HRC) provides unrivalled opportunity for health care professionals interested in the management of arrhythmias to share effective practice, showcase innovation, learn about latest developments and network with UK & international delegates.”

The meeting is a cardiac rhythm management meeting hence the submission is pitched in that way although at the FHN you all work within cardiology and all have involvement in the care of these patients and as such I see the award very much as the cardiology team award.

“This award recognises a team of health care professionals whose work has made an outstanding contribution to patient care, it's quality and outcomes. The team should be able to demonstrate that they have worked together to implement an improvement in patient care - this may be through a clinical development or education initiatives. Evidence of collaborative working with all members of the team should be demonstrated and the structure of the team clearly outlined.”

I attach what we submitted so you can see where we have come in terms of new services over the last 5 or so years and I hope as stated above you feel a sense of achievement and pride in what collectively has been achieved.  As always I am grateful to Friends of Friarage in helping us complete the jigsaw with the introduction of the new blackout service. Well done everyone.

You will soon see a glass award appear – we just need to find a home for it!
