Looking to join our charity as a Trustee/Board Member?
Trustee; Friends of the Friarage
Renumeration: This is a voluntary role
Time commitment: Trustees typically meet once every other month (evening) for about two hours, attend an annual strategy day (usually a half day on a Saturday) plus contributions to other meetings and events on an ad-hoc basis. Meetings are held at The Friarage Hospital, Northallerton.
Friends of the Friarage are seeking people who share their passion for the Friarage Hospital to join our charity as new Trustees. If you would like to provide your time towards making a difference to the community, this could be an ideal opportunity for you. Trustees play an important role in governing the charity, contributing expertise and ideas and in return gain a sense of satisfaction from helping a local cause.
Friends of the Friarage are an established charity who support the Friarage Hospital, its patients, staff and visitors by volunteering and raising funds to supplement the services provided by the NHS. For over 65 years we have fundraised and taken actions to enhance patient and staff experiences at the Friarage Hospital.
The Friarage is a popular and much-loved hospital that is currently undergoing a major expansion with a new £35 million surgical unit. In the past 5 years the Friarage Hospital has expanded, with the opening of the Sir Robert Ogden Macmillan Cancer Centre, a new academic centre; STRIVE and investment in Eye Outpatient Services. With further expansion taking place, we have ambitious plans to ensure that local people can receive the best care as close to home as possible by raising funds to further enhance services at the Friarage.
We raise funds by; holding events and activities, receiving legacies, seeking sponsorship and also from the Hospital Shop which is run by our Charity. We know that we have the potential to deliver so much more but we need your help and expertise as new Trustees to achieve this!
The role of a Trustee is very rewarding and also offers the opportunity to develop new skills for people seeking a future career change, or to try something different upon retirement. We would like to hear from people who have a background in either retail, fundraising, legal or finance but we welcome enquiries from people of all ages and backgrounds as we want to gain new ideas and gain views from all sectors of the community.
For an informal, no obligation chat about the opportunity please contact Keeley Metcalfe, Trustee on 07887641875 or email keeleymetcalfe1@gmail.com. The Trustee Information Pack can be downloaded at the bottom of this page.
Closing date for enquiries/applications; 31st August 2023
